The Garden Has to be Planted

"When one has tasted watermelon he knows what the angels eat," - Mark Twain
For the next few days I will be planting our garden. Its going to be in the 80s for the next few days, then we will have some rain. Its the perfect time to plant.
For my husband I have to plant corn, squash, cucumbers, onions and tomatos. Well, its for all of us.
This is what I ordered for our garden, tomato hot peppers, sweet chocolate peppers (taste like coca-cola), sweet yellow peppers, strawberry spinach, green grape tomato, Cherokee purple tomato, black diamond yellow watermelon, blacktail mountain watermelon, petit gris de rennes cantalope and charentais (a Europeon melon), lettuce, lavender and Indian Blanket flowers.
I'm very ambitious this year. Oh, my favorite things to grow, gourds. Hope you have a great growing season. Love, Territory Mom

What fun! Nice pic. Clearly, I started way too soon. But, the radishes are amazing!

I'm sure your garden is great. We had to wait because a fence needed to be fixed. I missed my chance for potatos.

Being from back east, Washington, DC, I never had a garden. Boy! I miss that I didn't. Having your own produce on your own table has to be rewarding. Once, just once, I raised some cage tomatoes in the back yard and they were fantastic! Now we buy those rock-hard, dried up, no juice tomatoes over at Kroger and they're terrible!

Hmmmm....maybe I can talk my wife into planting some tomatos in her flower borders this year. Nahhh....to late now.

Thanks, Territory Mom, Love your blog!

asparagus-- know anything about growing asparagus?

Hey Idabel,
I don't grow asparagus because it is tricky. It takes about a year for your first crop. I just buy mine from an experienced farmer. I'll e-mail more info.
